Backend Systems Engineer

About the role

Antfarm DAO is a decentralized Web3 product organization building transparent, verifiable infrastructure for digital assets and technical contributors. Our ecosystem includes Antfarm Finance, an onchain portfolio and liquidity-management protocol, and Proof of Dev, a platform that helps developers demonstrate meaningful engineering work through technical evidence such as code contributions, smart-contract deployments, attestations, security work, and project history. Our team works across decentralized finance, blockchain integrations, indexing, data systems, developer reputation, security, and product design. We are looking for people who can turn complex requirements into secure, maintainable products and who are comfortable taking ownership in a remote, early-stage environment. Design the backend capabilities of Antfarm DAO's applications using Next.js and TypeScript. You will build secure server-side services for identity, reputation evidence, blockchain activity, application workflows, and internal operations. This role requires strong API and data-system fundamentals as well as the ability to use Next.js beyond the frontend, including route handlers, server actions, background processing, and production deployment patterns.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services with Next.js route handlers, server actions, TypeScript, and the Node.js runtime
• Design APIs for developer profiles, evidence records, scoring results, applications, and platform administration
• Develop MongoDB schemas, indexes, migrations, and reliable data-access patterns
• Implement authentication, authorization, rate limiting, validation, audit logs, and secure file handling
• Integrate GitHub APIs, blockchain RPC services, indexers, notification systems, and external providers
• Create background jobs, queues, caching strategies, and idempotent processing workflows
• Improve observability, testing, performance, and resilience across production services

Required skills

• 5+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience
• Strong Next.js and TypeScript experience, including server-side application architecture
• Production experience with MongoDB, data modeling, indexing, and query optimization
• Knowledge of REST APIs, authentication, authorization, asynchronous processing, and application security
• Ability to design systems from initial requirements through deployment and operation

Preferred skills

• Experience with Redis, job queues, webhooks, event-driven systems, or serverless deployment
• Familiarity with GitHub Apps, OAuth, blockchain RPC providers, and transaction data
• Experience operating Next.js applications on Vercel, AWS, or equivalent infrastructure
